Now is an excellent time while we are all at home, to create our home inventory!

You should create a list of all your valuables, including but not limited to tools, jewelry, and electronics.  Record the model numbers, serial numbers, take pictures of select items, and get appraisals done on those expensive items.  For reputable appraisal companies, check first with your insurance company as they may have some that they can recommend.

Keep the inventory list and any appraisals handy and in a safe spot.  

Should anything happen that necessitates a claim, having the right documentation and pictures will save a lot of stress, a lot of questions, and ensure peace of mind through a difficult time.
